Things We've Learned - #11: Some Messes Are Not Planned

Whether you have one child or many children, messes can be expected. There are accidental messes such as a spilled drink, intentional messes such as finger painting, or unexpected messes as a result of curiosity. Thankfully, we have experienced very few of unexpected ones, though they have certainly provided some humor or else we wouldn't have pictures. These unexpected messes have also led to valuable teachable moments - explaining cause and effect in some cases, imparting general knowledge, responsibility in cleaning up one's messes, being a good steward of what God has entrusted to us, etc.  My guess is that there are more unexpected messes in our future! :o)

"Thank you for trying to clean the floor,
but this is to be used in the bathtub."
"You are to color on paper, not on the floor."
Who knew Eliana would break this into microscopic pieces?!

"Eliana, you are not to eat dirt."  (Yes, she did eat some.)
I was on the phone with my friend, Jill.
Apparently the pantry door was not latched shut.
It took weeks to find all of the grit.
But as you can see, Eliana helped to clean up her mess. :o)

The last few are my favorite. Ha! And eating dirt? Tsk tsk ... my kids would NEVER do that. ;)

That is so funny! I can relate in many instances.
