For Our Good

Many of you know our story - our journey.  Three years ago today we were about to become parents for the first time as we learned that our birthmom was about to give birth to a baby boy.  We were still two days away from adoption and were mentally prepared for the possibility of our birthmom changing her mind.  Little did we know what God was about to bring our way.  Sometimes it's a song, sometimes it's a spoken word, and sometimes it's just a random thought, but Evan James will always be remembered.  And, those very things also remind us that God is sovereign.  He is and always has been in control of everything.  "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you" (1 Peter 5:10).
We received a beautiful rosebush from Dale and Faith West shortly after Evan's passing. I'll never forget as I was choosing a place to plant it (based on sun exposure, soil richness, etc.), I located the perfect spot. When I showed James where the rosebush would go, he said, "Look where it is." The rosebush, which we call "Evan's Rose" was placed right outside the nursery window, which is now Eliana's room. We enjoy the beauty of the roses almost all year long and are constantly reminded of God's goodness and grace.
This picture, taken one year after Evan's passing, helps us remember him, but also allows us to celebrate the new life God blessed us with.  Thank you for traveling this journey with us.

The rose is beautiful. Praise God for His infinite wisdom and perfect timing. Thank you for being a wonderful example of how being patient and waiting on God is always the best route. While I'm sure it is difficult to remember losing Evan, Eliana is such a blessing that the idea of missing out on her must remind you of God's wisdom and blessing.

Mrs. S: that post was such a blessed reminder for me. I needed to come face to face with God's sovereignty today, and I did...through you.
